“I keep meaning to let you know what a success the signing has been with Theo.

He signs please, thank you, more, all gone, milk, bird, elephant and ouch all the time...and lots others.  Even better he says most of the things too.  He had more than a dozen words at 12 months and I'm sure it's down to all the repetition and reinforcement with the signing.

He is now a 'Something Special' addict (the only television he watches) - I know it's not BSL but he is completely mesmerised by it and tries to sign along with everything.

“Mary has really come along with her signing and now her talking. Most of the words she started signing, she speaks. We of course can understand her because she'll be sign as well. Her latest signs are grandad, nana, car, please, thank you, hungry, tree, bird, duck, plane, home, and today she did biscuit and I swear I showed that to her weeks ago and she just did it on her own.  It's really been amazing.”

 “May I please share with you all something Aimée is doing?  ('Not to impress, but to impress upon'!)

The last couple of weeks she has been signing when she wants to go to the toilet!!  She's got it back to front and is doing the poo sign for wee, but At least she's doing it!  And as I've told a couple of you, we are practising 'Natural Infant Hygiene', as maybe some of you are also, (google it, and 'elimination communication' if not), where you know when the baby wants to go to the toilet and so take them to the toilet and they do their business there and not in their nappies.  So I've not had to change a single pooey nappy in over 2 months now!  But I wasn't very on the ball with the wees, so if she is now telling me when she wants to wee this is fantastic.  (Sorry for the subject matter I am talking about!, but thought it might be useful for you to know about?)”

"Fantastic course and we adored every minute of it.  My daughter really loved all the singing and interactions with the other babies.  Paula's teaching style is fabulous, full of fun, laughs but learning while you're going....I can't promise I have remembered all of the signs that we learnt but certainly most of them and we use loads daily.  I am still to get some signing in return but that's only to be expected at 7 months......my favourite remains the sign for toast which I can't wait to have signed to me at breakfast time sometime soon!"

 Just a note to thank you so much for the Sunny Signers classes which Evie and I attended.  I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed them (as did Evie – I’m sure you noticed!)  I will really miss your classes.   Even though I have done two courses I would love to do more classes but I feel that I should proceed on my own now with all we have learnt and also with your course material.  I have told my husband, Peter, how much I have enjoyed your classes and how much I will miss them – also that of all the people I have come across in my life, I have never felt so much that someone is so suited to their job.  You are just so perfect for it – so friendly; you make things such fun; you encourage such warmth amongst the group; and you even have such an expressive face which is so necessary for your job! 

Thank you again – and all the best for your future.  You deserve to do well.

PS Had a sweet moment with Evie signing at the weekend – we had had a long day out at a beach in West Sussex.  On the way home in the car Evie was struggling to fall asleep a little, I reached over to stroke her leg and she looked at me and did the sign for “home”.  I was then able to tell her that we’d be home soon and she fell asleep immediately.  Fantastic.

Hi Paula,

 We've had a breakthrough!  Freya started to do the sign for milk last Monday (aged 10 and half months) and has been doing it at the appropriate moment ever since.

 She will also do the signs for nappy change, all gone and story when prompted. 

 I really enjoyed the classes, you made them great fun.  Your funny stories were hilarious, a good tonic on a Monday morning.  I have been practising those special signs you taught us, of course (the one where you lick your thumbs etc!)
